16.5% of invoice value.

How much is import tax in South Africa?

16.5% - for goods not manufactured within the BLNS countries.

15% for goods manufactured within the BLNS countries.

In case the supplier (exporter) is not registered as an exporter and does not have a exporters code, can I still import my goods from South Africa?

ALL natural persons can make use of their ID for goods less than (N$ 50,000.00) N$ 150,000.00 during any calendar year (3 x a year).

Does your company offer overnight services?

No, but we can assist with dedicated freights.

Am I VAT exempted on my personal effects?

Yes, but you need to apply for VAT exemption.

Do I need to be registered for import VAT to import items from South Africa?

No, we can assist with ALL import payments on your behalf at the respective borders.

What are the required documents for me to transport goods cross-border?

  • invoice
  • exporters code/ID (for personal belongings)
  • completion of cross border documentation (Absolute Clearing Department will assist)
  • for second-hand machinery an ITAC permit is a requirement

Do I need to appoint a clearing agent if I make use of your services?

No, the Absolute Clearing Department will assist you.

Can you help me with customs clearance?

Yes.

Do you have a transit BOND?

No, but we will gladly assist you.

Are you registered BOND Holders?

Yes.

Do you have a bonded warehouse?

Yes.

Do you have BOND for temporary import into Namibia?

Yes.

Does your company have insurance?

Yes, ALL our loads are covered for Five Million Five Hundred Thousand Namibian Dollars (N$ 5,500,000.00).

How is your freight rate calculated?

Do you offer cold chain transportation?

No.

Do you transport hazardous materials?

Yes.

Do you pack consignments?

No.

Do you have a depot at the coast?

No, but we do door to door deliveries.

What are the requirements for second-hand vehicle importation?

  • Invoice (sales agreement will also work)
  • 3 x Quotations from different dealers (In case there is no invoice)
  • Data Dot
  • SARPCO Police clearance – Export police clearance
  • Valid export code – please refer to the attached SARS guidelines
  • Original registration documentation
  • VERIDOT
  • CRAN Certificate – to be applied in Namibia

N$ 450.00 from depot to depot.

How much do you charge for cross border documentation?

N$ 300.00.
